The former convent of the Assumption of Our Lady of Tochimilco, from the second half of the 16th century, is one of the three convents in Puebla included in the World Heritage declaration. The large atrium, protected by a crenellated wall, was a key piece for the evangelizing work of these first convents, since the indigenous people preferred to be in open spaces.

Municipality

Tochimilco is a municipality in the state of Puebla. On July 25 a festival is celebrated in honor of Saint James the Apostle in the town of Tochimizolco; On October 18, in the town of Tulcingo, Saint Luke the Evangelist is celebrated; on November 11, in Zacatempan, Saint Martin the Knight is celebrated; and in Tepanapa, a festival with morning songs, Moorish dances, and fireworks is held in honor of its patron saint, Saint Catherine, on November 25.
