The municipality is located within the Tecolutla basin and is crossed by the Xucayucan River, which bursts into the southeast and bathes the central part in a southwest-northwest direction in a journey of more than 12 kilometers, until it joins the Teziutanapan and forms the Atexcaco. The Ajocotzingo River, which bathes the southeast from south to north and after a short journey joins the Xucayucán. The Atexcaco River, which has a long journey through the central part (more than 7 kilometers) until it joins the Apulco.

Municipality

Yaonáhuac is one of the 217 municipalities of the Mexican state of Puebla, its name means "Next to the Great Waterway", it has beautiful historical places such as the parish temple in honor of Santiago Apóstol, it is located in the municipal capital built in the 16th century, and from which the festival in honor of Santiago Apóstol starts on July 25, it is celebrated with masses, prayers, processions, popular dance, mechanical games, fireworks, rodeos, music bands and dances, in addition to having eco-tourist options such as the La Soledad Dam, the Los Berros River and the Canastilla River.
