This former convent was built in the second half of the 16th century. Its three-nave, basilica-shaped temple in the Renaissance style is very similar to the temple of the former Tecali convent, which is now in ruins. The temple preserves traces of the original mural paintings. This temple is the only one in Latin America that is still standing and functioning more than 440 years after its foundation.
