The Temple of Santiago Apóstol is a colonial, religious style. Its main façade is made up of a portal and a high tower, whose bell tower shows openings of semicircular arches and Corinthian columns. The main altarpiece with cypress is of neoclassical characteristics and those in the transepts belong to the Solomonic Baroque. In the compartments of the latter saints and oil paintings are displayed.

Municipality

Zapotitlán de Méndez is a municipality in the state of Puebla, its name means "among the zapotes" and it has several historical monuments such as the parish church dedicated to the Virgin of the Nativity, the Morelos Bridge from the late 19th century, and the bell tower outside the church from the 16th century. The Municipal Palace dates back to the 19th century, and the patron saint festival is celebrated on September 8 in honor of the Virgin of the Nativity. For ecotourism, there are the "Grutas Karmidas" (Karmidas Caves). These natural wonders are quite popular and worth visiting. Stones with engravings of the Aztec calendar, the origin of which is unknown, were also found in different parts of Zapotitlán.
