The Franciscan Friars were the first to take care of the town. The inauguration of the Temple and Convent of San Diego was on January 7, 1647. It was the first temple with the largest size. Its harmonious style corresponds to the Neoclassical Baroque. The austerity of its façade contrasts with its ornamental richness. Inside the sacristy there are excellent colonial paintings of the life of San Francisco, works by the artist Juan Correa, who had a preference for large-scale works.
