In the octagonal apse is the main altar, dedicated to Our Lady of Bethlehem, patron saint of the former Real de Asientos and titular of the parish. The second of the buildings, the chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, is believed to have been the work of the famous architect, Refugio Reyes Rivas. Its construction began on May 3, 1890.
The Municipality of Asientos is one of the 10 municipalities into which the state of Aguascalientes is divided. Its name comes from Our Lady of Belén de los Asientos de Ibarra, hence its current name.
