Ciénega Grande is located on land adjacent to the Camino Real towards Zacatecas, which is currently located in the municipality of Asientos. Based on a 16th century prison that provided protection and rest to travelers and merchants who traveled that route, the Larrañaga family formed a prosperous estate at the beginning of the 18th century, which combined both agricultural and mineral processing activities from the mining areas of Asientos and Tepezalá.
The Municipality of Asientos is one of the 10 municipalities into which the state of Aguascalientes is divided. Its name comes from Our Lady of Belén de los Asientos de Ibarra, hence its current name. Among its main buildings is the Church of San José in Asientos, the Larrañaga House, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Guadalupe and the Miner's House, where you can still see the quarry and blacksmith work on the doors and windows, the temple and the Former convent of the Lord of Tepozán , one kilometer before reaching Villa Juárez, the El Llavero recreational center and the El Barzón spa are located.
