The Bay of the Holy Spirit is located in the south-central Caribbean coast of Quintana Roo, south of the Bay of the Ascension, from which it is divided by a peninsula and with which it shares several characteristics, among which is its shallow depth that makes navigation difficult. Due to this, the Bay of the Holy Spirit is very rich in marine life, highlighting several species of lobsters.

Another dance is La Cinta, in which the dancers weave figures with the multi-colored ribbons that come off the tip of a pole about 10 meters long. Also common are the Yucatecan-influenced jaranas, which are danced at the Vaquerías, popular festivals that are generally held in honor of patron saints.
