Inside the Temple of San Jerónimo Zacualpan, at the top there is a pediment with a niche on the axis flanked by columns that support a small cornice and a cross at the top. A four-body tower made of stone and a bell gable frame the entrance to the temple. The tower on its first body has two holes and is topped by a paneled cornice. The second has semicircular arches, the third has a clock. The last body shows a small dome with an octagonal base and semicircular arches on each side topped by an iron cross.
San Jerónimo Zacualpan is a municipality in the state of Tlaxcala. Its name, Zacualpan, translates as "on the mound or on the shrine." It has beautiful buildings such as the Temple of San Jerónimo. The construction of the temple dates back to the 18th and 19th centuries, from which the main festival takes place on September 30 in honor of the patron saint "Jerónimo" known as the doctor of the church.
In the Municipality of San Jerónimo Zacualpan, the charro bands are an essential part of the carnival celebrations. The musical accompaniment, strictly speaking, requires a brass band, which will accompany the people through the streets of the town until the day when the final hour of the carnival festivities is reached. According to the book Los Municipios de Tlaxcala, the carnival is celebrated with indigenous influence. The carnival costume is made up of a multi-colored headdress, velvet pants and shirt in different colors, a carved wooden mask, complemented with religious motifs (embroidery). The main festival takes place on September 30 in honor of the patron saint "Jerónimo" known as the doctor of the church. The celebration is with religious acts, fireworks and mechanical games.
