Municipality

San Juan Huactzinco is a municipality in the state of Tlaxcala, its name Huactzinco comes from the Nahuatl meaning "In the venerable dry place", its main architectural construction is the San Juan Temple, the construction of this temple was carried out in several stages, covering the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries from where its patronal celebration begins, the main day is December 27 where the patron saint San Juan Apostle is celebrated.

Festivities

They begin on the third Friday of Lent and it is customary for the huehues or groups of dancers to dance in the streets and houses that request them. The dancers do not wear uniform clothing, but come out dressed in any carnival costume from other places, or in "fachas". They dance from 11 in the morning to 18 hours. The carnival ends at night, at 22 hours, in the center of the town and ends in the auditorium. For the musical accompaniment, a wind instrument orchestra is strictly required, which will accompany the people through the streets of the town until the day when the final hour of the end of the carnival festivities arrives. The main day is December 27th, when the patron saint San Juan Apóstol is celebrated.
