Inside the Parish of La Santa Cruz Tlaxcala, the main altarpiece, also dedicated to the Holy Cross, was made at the end of the 17th century and beginning of the 18th century. It features images of the seven archangels and a top with the figure of the Eternal Father. At the ends of the altar there are two didactic paintings with texts in Nahuatl: the first shows the seven deadly sins that surround Adam and Eve in paradise, and the second represents the sacraments.

The festival is held in honor of the Holy Cross, which begins nine days before May 3 with the so-called novena. Daily morning masses are held and rosaries are organized starting at 5 p.m. On the main day (May 3), in the morning, between 5 and 6 a.m., the "mañanitas" are sung in honor of the Holy Cross, accompanied by the music band and the mariachis. Immediately afterward, a mass is celebrated with a fireworks display and the ringing of bells.
