The temple was built during the last years of the 17th century. On its brick-covered façade, four fluted columns with mixed Ionic and Corinthian capitals stand out. The star-shaped choir window is one of the best-done of its kind, and the entrance arch is one of the so-called convex lobed arches. Inside, a pulpit stands out, one of the most decorated in the neoclassical style.

Municipality

Totolac is a municipality located northwest of the city of Tlaxcala, its name means "Bird Water", it has beautiful architectural sites such as the Parish Church of San Juan Bautista, the temple was built during the last years of the 17th century, the Church and Convent of San Juan Totolac dates back to approximately the year 1569, the Temple of Santa Maria was built during the 18th century, the Temple of Santa Maria Candelaria was built during the 19th century, the Temple of San Miguel Arcángel was built during the 19th and 20th centuries. This town is famous for its carnival celebrations and the making of party bread.

Festivities

On the first Sunday of Carnival, at around 11 a.m., the carnival festivities begin. Each camada meets at the house of its president and it is in these places where they will begin to dance. Later, they will continue dancing in the houses of the people who previously hired them. Between 3 and 4 p.m., all the camadas meet on the main esplanade or on the town's basketball court. On Monday, at 3 p.m., the celebration of the hanging of Juan Carnaval begins. This representation consists of several men dressing up as crybabies, police officers and lawyers. The crybabies, accompanied by their police officers and lawyers, carry a doll and walk through all the streets crying and asking for money; then at around 10 p.m., on the municipal esplanade, the hanging of Juan Carnaval takes place. In this act, the arrest, trial and hanging are staged; act with which the carnival celebrations end
