The church of Coatlán del Río was founded in 1808 and is located in the center of the town. Its bells were placed in 1809. Currently, this parish church is known by the name of the Holy Kings or Epiphany of the Lord. It also has the chapel of Dolores, also known as Calvary.

Coatlán del Río is a municipality in the state of Morelos, the origins of the word Coatlán date back to pre-Hispanic times, meaning "Place where snakes abound", it has various historical buildings and tourist options such as the Parroquia de los Santos Reyes, the Chapel del Calvario, the Cerrito Chapel in Coatlán del Río, the San Andrés Chapel in Colonia Morelos, the Former hacienda and chapel of Santa Rosa in Cocoyotla, the Former Coatlán hacienda, the Ruins of Coatlán Viejo, the Municipal Palace, the Arcos Campo la Chia, the Coatlán Stone, has the tourist attraction of the Chalma River, the fair of the three kings on January 6, starting the first day with a traditional mojiganga.

Festivities

On the morning of the 1st of the New Year, people dressed as devils and the dead parade through the streets of the town, carrying a person dressed as a baby in a stroller, symbolising the New Year. On the afternoon of the 5th, they hold a mass representing the Three Wise Men, welcoming them with the lighting of a canopy of lights. At the end of this, a banner symbolises the presentation of the Three Wise Men. All the pilgrims attend the ceremony, accompanied by the procession of the pastorela. This religious presentation awakens the children's hope of receiving gifts from the Three Wise Men. On the morning of the 6th of January, they hold a religious mass for the Three Wise Men and at night, the traditional castle of lights is lit in the town court, symbolising the Three Wise Men.
