San Javier is a town in the municipality of Loreto, located in the state of Baja California Sur, Mexico, it contains the church of the Mission San Francisco Xavier de Viggé-Biaundó more commonly known as Mission San Javier, every year, Loreto and its surroundings are adorned with traditional festivals to honor Saint Francis Xavier.
It is one of the 5 municipalities located in the central part of the Mexican state of Baja California Sur. Its original name is Concho, which in the indigenous language means Red Mangrove and was named Loreto by the Jesuit priest Juan María de Salvatierra in memory of the day that Our Lady of Loreto arrived at the place. It is the favorite destination for cultural and recreational tourism in our country and abroad with cultural and tourist activities and attractions, including beaches, museums and places of interest.
This municipality offers tourists an infinite number of festivities, which is why it receives the aforementioned name. The main festivities in Loreto are on September 8, the festival held in honor of Our Lady of Loreto.
