Municipality

Cohetzala is one of the 217 municipalities that make up the Mexican state of Puebla. Its name is interpreted as Between trees or in the middle of the grove and it is located in the southwest of the state of Puebla. It has heritage buildings such as the parish temple of Santa María de La Asunción built in the 16th century and from which the patron saint's day begins on August 15 in honor of Santa María de la Asunción, and is celebrated with prayers, masses, processions, music bands, and fireworks.
