The Calvary Temple of Comitán de Domínguez is located in the neighborhood of the same name. The neoclassical style Temple, its construction dates back to the 19th century, has a façade that presents motifs taken from the baroque repertoire of ancient Guatemala.
Comitán de Domínguez is a municipality located in the Mexican state of Chiapas, Comitlán which means place of potters, a word that was Hispanicized as Comitán, today it is a thriving municipality characterized by its variety of architectural styles ranging from neoclassical to neo-Gothic and art nouveau and even Mudejar. It has several tourist attractions for visitors such as the Historic Center of Comitán, the gardens and streets, the Uninajab Spa, the Church of Santo Domingo, the Archaeological Zone of Tenam Puente and more.
In Comitán de Domínguez the most important celebrations are the Feast of San Sebastián on January 20, the Feast of the Virgin of Candelaria on February 2, the Feast of San Caralampio from February 11 to 20, the Feast of Santo Domingo and the trade fair, and the Feast of the Virgin of the Rosary on October 7.
