Brisas del Mar Beach in Suchiate is a very beautiful beach, from where you can see Ocós Beach, in San Marcos on the Guatemalan side. This tourist beach is one of the meeting points for locals, however it is not unusual to find constant patrols by PEF agents because it is also frequented by numerous groups of Central and South American migrants, who travel through it on their way to the United States.

Municipality

The Municipality of Suchiate is a Mexican border municipality in the Soconusco region, state of Chiapas. Its name is taken from the Suchiate River that divides Mexico and Guatemala and comes from Nahuatl and its meaning is Water of Flowers. The main tourist attractions are the beaches of El Gancho, Santa Isabel, Brisas del Mar, the Barra de Suchiate and the riverbank of the same name, which has areas for recreational walks.

Festivities

In Suchiate the most important celebrations are those of the Lord of the Three Falls and that of Saint Andrew.
