The Chamula Ethnological Museum is located next to the San Juan Chamula cemetery, at a well-known address in the San Sebastián neighborhood, where information about the culture and population of the region is displayed.
The municipality of Chamula is one of the municipalities into which the Mexican state of Chiapas is divided for its internal regime. Its capital is the town of San Juan Chamula. The name Chamula means thick water, like adobe. The main tourist attractions are San Juan Chamula, the Church of San Juan Bautista, the Carnival Festival, the Chamula Ethnographic Museum, the Tzontehuitz hill and the Petej lagoon.
In Chamula, the festivals of San Sebastián, San Juan Bautista, Santa Rosa, San Mateo and the Virgen del Rosario are celebrated.
