Municipality

Mazatán is one of the municipalities of the state of Chiapas. Its name comes from the Nahuatl Masatān, which means Place where deer abound. The municipality has the temple of the Virgin of the Conception. Its main tourist attractions are: The San José Tourist Center, a resting place located in front of the sea, where it is possible to swim and practice some water sports such as diving and sport fishing. Barra San Simón, located west of the municipal seat, where it is possible to practice diving, fishing and swimming.
