The Bachajón Mission Parish in Chilón belongs to the Diocese of San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas and has been served by Jesuits since December 1958. The Bachajón Mission began its work in the Diocese of San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas in December 1958. It was founded by the Mexican Province of the Society of Jesus. The team is currently made up of Jesuits, Sisters of the Divine Shepherd, lay men and women, mestizos and Tseltal indigenous people.
