Epatlán is one of the 217 municipalities belonging to the state of Puebla, there are vestiges of archaeological ruins and some architectural monuments such as the Parish Temple in honor of the Virgin Mary with its dedication to Our Lady of Light and the parish temple in honor of San Juan Bautista, the archaeological zones called “El Huarache Pintado” and another called “El resbaladero”, have eco-tourist places such as the Epatlán lagoon, which is one of the main attractions, dating back to approximately the year 515 AD and has small private cabins around him.

Festivities

The second Wednesday of May is the day of the patron saint, the Virgin of Light, which is celebrated with fireworks, prayers, and processions. It is a solemn commemoration of Holy Week (March or April); on November 1 and 2, All Saints' Day. In February, the town festival is celebrated with masses and prayers, as well as pagan aspects such as rodeo and popular dances, accompanied by bullfights. Also on the third Wednesday of May, fireworks are set off, mechanical games are played, and popular dances are held. The national heroes are commemorated with great enthusiasm in September.
