Municipality

Huitzilan is a municipality in the state of Puebla, its name means "place abundant in myrtle-suckers" or "near the myrtle-suckers", it has important monuments such as the parish temple dedicated to Santiago Apóstol that dates back to the 16th century, on the 14th and 15th. In August, the patron saint festival of the Virgin of the Assumption is celebrated, with masses, prayers, processions, fireworks, popular dances and dances such as: quetzalines, volantes, tejedores and huehues, patrianos, migueles, negritos and españoles, to the delight of the Tourists have the Ateno River, which they visit as a spa on holidays, and the Cozoltépetl hill, which has a height that allows the visitor to see the sea when the sky is clear.
