Pantepec is one of the 217 municipalities into which the Mexican state of Puebla is divided. The main architectural structure of the region is the parish temple, built in the 17th century, in honor of San Juan Bautista, patron saint of the town, of which it is the famous religious fair of Mecapalapan, March 18 in honor of San José there is sale of livestock and clay objects from Palenque, mainly jars, where they dance "Los Santiagos", "Los Negritos", "Huehues" and "El Jaripeo", they burn rockets and fireworks, it has cave paintings in the Cuevas del Muerto and Totonac objects which are located at an approximate distance of 4 kilometers from the municipal seat.
In the famous religious fair of Mecapalapan, on March 18th, in honor of Saint Joseph, there is the buying and selling of cattle and clay objects from Palenque, mainly jars. There are dances such as "Los Santiagos", "Los Negritos", "Huehues" and "El Jaripeo", fireworks and fireworks. On June 23rd and 24th, the Pantepec Fair is celebrated with dancing by the people of Santiago day and night and there are processions in commemoration of Saint John the Baptist, patron saint of the town.
