Located in the central square of the city of Puebla, the construction of the Cathedral began in November 1575 by order of King Philip II of Spain and was designed by Francisco Becerra and Juan de Cigorondo, dedicating it to Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception. In 1634, Juan Gómez de Trasmonte made a re-adaptation of the original project that was put into operation in 1640 upon the arrival of Bishop Juan de Palafox y Mendoza to the city.
