The temple was consecrated in 1617 and, like all convent temples, has two gates on the side wall that borders the street. Initially decorated in the Baroque style, it underwent a neoclassical-influenced reform in the 19th century. It preserves some Churrigueresque altarpieces in the upper choir, making it one of the best in the city. In the lower choir, now converted into crypts, it houses a wax image of St. Acela in an urn.
