Located on 16 de Septiembre Street, the Post Office Building was the residence of the bishops of Puebla from the beginning of the 17th century. Later, in 1676, the building was expanded to include a prison for clerics and the ecclesiastical courts. In 1792, the building stopped being the residence of the bishopric and became the government palace from 1861 to 1863. It was used as a school and a traffic department, and finally became the current post and telegraph office.
