The Temple of San Francisco in Atempan is of colonial, neoclassical style, from the 17th century. Currently modified. Its façade is very high, composed of two bodies that present half-sample columns with fluted shafts and Ionic capitals; in the first body they flank the entrance and in the second, quadrilobed oculi and niches with sculptures. The top is a curved pediment with vases on small attached columns.
The municipality of Atempan means on the bank or riverbank of the river, it belongs to the Sierra Norte of the State of Puebla, it has architectural heritage such as the parish church dating from the 16th century, dedicated to San Francisco de Asís, the Church of Calvary, the atrium of the parish and the "Capilla del Santo Entierro", on October 4, San Francisco de Asís is celebrated with masses, fairs, native dances of "Tocotines", "Santiagos", "Quetzalines", "Negritos" and " Bullfighters".
