In the mining town of La Cañada, located north of the municipality of Tetela de Ocampo and just 10 minutes from the Historic Center of the municipality, mining activity has existed since the 18th century, when the first mine exploited by the Spanish was installed. May 5th and September 16th are celebrated with dances, parades, etc. August 15th, the day of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, is celebrated with dances of the negritos, the tejoneros, the toreros, the santiagueros, the quetzales, the voladores, the huehues, the palo encebado, cockfights and horse races. Easter is commemorated on November 1st, All Saints' Day on December 12th, the Virgin of Guadalupe and Christmas.
