The Tepapayeca pyramid is located in the archaeological zone with the Tepapayeca pyramid in Tlapanalá, which gives it its name.
Tlapanalá is a municipality in the state of Puebla. Its name means: "In what is broken or near what is broken"; it was named this way because the head is located on the left bank of the Atila River, it has various architectural sites such as the parish temple of Santo Tomás de Aquinas, dates back to the century, the former convent of Tepapayeca, on January 28th is celebrated in homage to the patron saint, pilgrims gather to bring religious images from the places of their origin (Puebla and Tlaxcala), for the tourist there is the archaeological zone with the Tepapayeca pyramid, as an attraction the Ahuhueyo River, both located in the town of Tepapayeca and the "Ojo del Carbón" spa.
On January 28, in honor of the patron saint, pilgrims gather to bring religious images from their places of origin (Puebla and Tlaxcala). There are masses, prayers, grape harvests and bullfights. On the second Friday of Lent and Holy Week, religious commemorations are held. On April 1, the death of General Emiliano Zapata is commemorated with music and a popular fair.
