Municipality

Zapotitlán de Méndez is a municipality in the state of Puebla, its name means "among the zapotes" and it has several historical monuments such as the parish church dedicated to the Virgin of the Nativity, the Morelos Bridge from the late 19th century, and the bell tower outside the church from the 16th century. The Municipal Palace dates back to the 19th century, and the patron saint festival is celebrated on September 8 in honor of the Virgin of the Nativity. For ecotourism, there are the "Grutas Karmidas" (Karmidas Caves). These natural wonders are quite popular and worth visiting. Stones with engravings of the Aztec calendar, the origin of which is unknown, were also found in different parts of Zapotitlán.

Festivities

July 25th is the patronal feast, celebrated with processions, dances, masses, fireworks and a marching band. Holy Week is commemorated with devotion; November 1st and 2nd is the celebration of All Saints and All Souls, offerings and visits to the cemetery.
