Zoquiapan is one of the 217 municipalities in which the state of Puebla is divided, its name Zoquiapan, comes from the Aztec words: "zoquitl", mud, silt; "atl", water; and "pan", on, in; "in muddy or swampy water", its main architectural construction is the parish church, dedicated to San Francisco de Asís, dates from the 16th century and the Municipal Palace, on October 4 the patronal feast of San Francisco de Asís is celebrated, with processions, dances and popular festival; dances such as the voladores, matarachines, toreadores and negritos, in ecotourism in its territory there are caves with stalactites and stalagmites.
