This neoclassical building, located in the historic center, was one of the first in the town. It served as a convent and in 1886 it was transformed into the Seminary College of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Years later it was confiscated by the Revolutionary authorities to build the Correctional School of Arts and Trades. Since 1967, the Aguascalientes Institute of Fine Arts, currently the House of Culture or Cultural Institute of Aguascalientes, has been located here.

Municipality

The Municipality of Aguascalientes is one of the 11 municipalities that make up the state of Aguascalientes, the name of Aguascalientes is due to the abundance of hot springs in the area, it has beautiful historical buildings such as the Government Palace, the Temple of Guadalupe, the Baroque-style Encino Temple, the Temple of San Marcos, the Temple of San Diego, the Temple of La Merced, La Excedra, Ionic-type fluted column, the Morelos Theater, the House of Culture, the Temple of San José, the San Marcos Garden, as well as various museums, esplanades and parks, the San Marcos Fair is undoubtedly the most important in the municipality and what to say at the state level

Festivities

The San Marcos National Fair currently has other spaces that have gained relevance, aimed at the general public, such as the Teatro del Pueblo or Fiesta de las Estrellas; the National Young Art Award, the Poetry Award and other top-level awards, thus forming an extensive cultural program. In 1924, the contest to choose the Queen of the Fair was held for the first time, and Miss Paz Romo de Vivar was chosen as queen. Since then, the San Marcos National Fair has had 76 worthy representatives of Aguascalientes beauty.
