The Temple of San José in Nanacamilpa de Mariano Arista is located where the chapel of the hacienda was previously located. It was founded in 1581. It is dedicated to the patron saint Saint Joseph. The first baptism is registered in 1891. A fire demolished the chapel, which spread on March 19, 1959, shortly after the Priest Cándido Rojas was in charge of the construction of the temple.

On March 19th, the town's patron saint, San José, is celebrated, and the festival begins 9 days before with the so-called novena. During the fair days, various exhibitions are held in front of the town hall. In the main square, an exhibition is held on the culture of pulque and its derivatives. This is set up by the main producers of the region, who also give away some of their products to visitors, as well as natural or cured pulque from the industries established in the municipality.
