Xicohtzinco is a town in the Mexican state of Tlaxcala, which by itself constitutes one of the 60 municipalities that make up the state. Its name means Behind the jicotes, it has beautiful historical places such as the Santo Toribio Parish, the time of its construction dates back to the 18th and 19th centuries, the Santa Filomena Chapel, this chapel was built during the 19th century, its main festival is on April 16 and the patron saint Santo Toribio is celebrated.
In the Municipality of Xicohtzinco, the groups of huehues dancing quadrillas are an essential part of the carnival celebrations. The musical accompaniment is provided by a brass band, the name of the musical sounds played always correspond to the plot of the representation known as the "plaza departure", "the embassies", "long and short battles", "laments", among others. The carnival costume consists of black pants, a double-breasted frock coat or jacket, a top hat, a cloth richly embroidered with religious motifs; a stool on the head with an enormous plume of feathers of various colors (called a plumerón), a carved wooden mask with Spanish features and long whips that resemble a snake. The main day is April 16 and the patron saint Santo Toribio is celebrated.
