The former Franciscan convent or former Temple of Atlihuetzía was designed by Hernán Cortés in 1523. Its construction period was during the 16th century. The materials used in the walls indicate that this temple was built in different stages. The remains of the corbels in the undergrowth show that the choir was supported by beams.
