Chila de la sal is one of the 217 municipalities that make up the state of Puebla, its name means, like its namesake Chila de las Flores, “Abundance of snails”, its main construction is the parish church, in adoration of Lord Santiago, built in the 16th century, and from which the main festival begins on July 23, the patron saint's day, in honor of Lord Santiago, on May 2 and 3, the day of the Holy Cross, which are celebrated with prayers, masses, processions, fireworks and dances.
