The Mission of San José del Cabo Añuití was the southernmost of the Jesuit missions established during the colonial period of Mexican history in the territory of Old California. The mission was dedicated to Saint Joseph, and was built on the site that the Pericúes called Añuití. This mission was created on April 8, 1730 by the Jesuit Nicolás Tamaral and Father Visitor José Echeverría.
Los Cabos is one of the five municipalities of the state of Baja California Sur before being called San José del Cabo, the Pericues named it Anuiti, it also received the name of San Bernabé, it is one of the most important tourist destinations in Mexico, for its variety of eco-tourism destinations and activities such as the Natural Arch of Cabo San Lucas, whale watching and various beaches.
The most important festivities in the area are Saint Joseph's Day and the founding of San José del Cabo, during which they wear traditional clothing such as the Pitahaya Flower and Cuera dresses.
