The San Francisco Mission is considered the jewel of the Baja California missions. Its facade is of modest baroque style, where the beautiful ogee arch door, the ornaments in the choir window and the simple buttresses that frame it stand out. Inside it preserves a magnificent altarpiece in the baroque style, carved and gilded wood, dedicated to San Francisco Javier, whose image is accompanied by five excellent oil paintings with religious images. It was founded on March 10, 1699.

Municipality

It is one of the 5 municipalities located in the central part of the Mexican state of Baja California Sur. Its original name is Concho, which in the indigenous language means Red Mangrove and was named Loreto by the Jesuit priest Juan María de Salvatierra in memory of the day that Our Lady of Loreto arrived at the place.
