Visit the house that served as a jail in the city of Loreto and was later converted into the headquarters of the City Hall of this city. This place was the headquarters of the State Government Palace, which for 131 years was located in the city of Loreto, until in 1828 the capital was moved from Loreto to San Antonio and then definitively to La Paz, a year later. Thus, the political hegemony of the port of Loreto ended.

Municipality

It is one of the 5 municipalities located in the central part of the Mexican state of Baja California Sur. Its original name is Concho, which in the indigenous language means Red Mangrove and was named Loreto by the Jesuit priest Juan María de Salvatierra in memory of the day that Our Lady of Loreto arrived at the place. It is the favorite destination for cultural and recreational tourism in our country and abroad with cultural and tourist activities and attractions, including beaches, museums and places of interest.
