The Chiapa de Corzo Archaeological Zone, whose occupation as a small agricultural village began around 1400 BC; but it became a large ceremonial center between the years 850 - 450 BC; in the following period (450 BC - 250 AD) construction activity increased. Archaeological findings have allowed us to verify its contacts with distant regions such as the Olmec area of the Gulf Coast or the highlands of Guatemala.
