The Municipal Palace of Comitán de Domínguez was built at the end of the 19th century by the Political Chief Eleuterio Aguilar. With its mural Genesis and History of the Men of Corn, which has a deep reflective meaning; work of the master Manuel Suasnavar Pastrana, which prints a large part of the History of Mexico and especially of Chiapas in which art and ideology converge.

Municipality

Comitán de Domínguez is a municipality located in the Mexican state of Chiapas, Comitlán which means place of potters, a word that was Hispanicized as Comitán, today it is a thriving municipality characterized by its variety of architectural styles ranging from neoclassical to neo-Gothic and art nouveau and even Mudejar. It has several tourist attractions for visitors such as the Historic Center of Comitán, the gardens and streets, the Uninajab Spa, the Church of Santo Domingo, the Archaeological Zone of Tenam Puente and more.

In Comitán de Domínguez the most important celebrations are the Feast of San Sebastián on January 20, the Feast of the Virgin of Candelaria on February 2, the Feast of San Caralampio from February 11 to 20, the Feast of Santo Domingo and the trade fair, and the Feast of the Virgin of the Rosary on October 7.
