The Chukumaltik Cenote in Comitán de Domínguez is ideal for lovers of deep-sea diving. The cenote is 200 meters in diameter and almost 70 meters deep, with incredibly crystalline water that allows visibility of 40 meters at a constant temperature of 23 to 24 degrees all year round. The bottom of the cenote is home to petrified trees, sulfur chimneys, an evocative altar of the Virgin of Sorrows, a quartz deposit and caverns.

Comitán de Domínguez is a municipality located in the Mexican state of Chiapas, Comitlán which means place of potters, a word that was Hispanicized as Comitán, today it is a thriving municipality characterized by its variety of architectural styles ranging from neoclassical to neo-Gothic and art nouveau and even Mudejar.
