The Costa Verde Tourist Center in Mapastepec is located in the heart of the La Encrucijada Biosphere Reserve, surrounded by the tallest mangroves in the American Pacific. In Costa Verde you can take tours through mangroves, lagoons and estuaries, such as El Aguaje and El Silencio, to observe birds, crocodiles, reptiles and other animals that inhabit this wonderful place. Through its Environmental Interpretation Center and its eco-tourism tours, Costa Verde partners will show you the richness of this part of the Reserve.
Mapastepec is one of the municipalities of the Mexican state of Chiapas, its name comes from Nahuatl and is interpreted as Cerro del Mapache, one of its main tourist attractions is Las Coaches, a place located next to the sea, for the solace and recreation of visitors and locals, as well as its natural beauty and its people as well as the Costa Verde tourist center.
In Mapastepec the most important celebration is the celebration of the Lord of Esquipulas, Saint Peter and Saint Paul. Traditionally, Holy Week, the Day of the Dead, Christmas and New Year are celebrated.
