Paredón Bay in Tonalá is located 14 kilometers south of the city of Tonalá. The beautiful bay is part of the Dead Sea shore extension. It does not have a sandy beach due to its waves. Tonalá is a municipality located in the southeast of Mexico in the state of Chiapas, settled in the transition of the Coastal Plain and the Sierra Madre of Chiapas, the word comes from the Nahuatl meaning Hot Place, from tonali, heat and lan, idea of abundance. It has ideal tourist places such as Puerto Arista with fine and soft sand, Boca del Cielo, Paredón Bay and various eco-tourist and archaeological sites such as the Iglesia Vieja Archaeological Zone.
In Tonalá the most important celebrations are the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, the Feast of the Holy Cross and Saint Joseph.
