The Tapachula International Fair has been held since 1963, when the main intention was to allow the Municipality to be a means for the exchange of goods, services and cultural events with international continents (Central America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa), as well as with various states of the Mexican Republic. Annually, an average of 300,000 visitors are expected during the course of the FIT.

Municipality

Tapachula is one of the municipalities of the state of Chiapas, between the Sierra Madre and the Pacific Coastal Plain. Tapachula, in the Nahuatl language, means Tapacholla. Among the tourist attractions of this municipality are its beaches such as Playa Linda and Laguna Pozuelo, tourist centers, parks, traditional festivals and its coffee route.

Festivities

In Tapachula, the following festivals are celebrated: San Benito, the Costa Chiapas International Expo, the San Agustín festival, the Jesús de la Buena Esperanza festival, the San Miguel festival, the San Sebastián festival, the San Caralampio festival and the Virgen de Guadalupe festival. In the town of Carrillo Puerto, a festival is held from January 7 to 15.
