The Church of San Agustín in Tapachula, with its simple façade, is interesting for its contemporary sacred works of art. In the presbytery, there is a depiction of Christ as the supreme priest and the Holy Spirit on the altar front, spreading his seven gifts or theological virtues. In the chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, there is the Last Supper, carved from a single piece of cedar. Erected in 1818 when Tapachula became a parish, it served as a cathedral until the inauguration of a modern building in 2001.
