The A Puerta Abierta Cultural Center in Tapachula is an independent cultural space that offers a space for various activities: workshops (jazz and blues, theater, relaxation, narrative and languages), screening of films and documentaries and live music presentations with jazz groups such as Azul Picante. The Cultural Center has a cafeteria, meeting rooms and a room for screenings and live performances.
Tapachula is one of the municipalities of the state of Chiapas, between the Sierra Madre and the Pacific Coastal Plain. Tapachula, in the Nahuatl language, means Tapacholla. Among the tourist attractions of this municipality are its beaches such as Playa Linda and Laguna Pozuelo, tourist centers, parks, traditional festivals and its coffee route.
In Tapachula, the following festivals are celebrated: San Benito, the Costa Chiapas International Expo, the San Agustín festival, the Jesús de la Buena Esperanza festival, the San Miguel festival, the San Sebastián festival, the San Caralampio festival and the Virgen de Guadalupe festival. In the town of Carrillo Puerto, a festival is held from January 7 to 15.
