The Candelaria Parish in Tuxtla Chico dates back to the 15th century and is beautifully decorated in a simple colonial style. It is the most important parish in the town and a meeting point for the inhabitants.

Municipality

The municipality of Tuxtla Chico, a municipality in the state of Chiapas in Mexico, is located in the south of the state, on the border with Guatemala and its capital is the town of the same name, Tuxtla, in Nahuatl it means Place of Rabbits. The main tourist attraction is the Izapa Archaeological Zone, one of the main archaeological sites in Chiapas, founded around the year 1500 BC. For 1,000 years it was the largest and most important civil and religious center on the Pacific Plain.
