The botanical garden was founded in 1985 and has a collection of living plants, divided into 11 sections taking into account geographic, ecological, taxonomic and usage criteria. It also has a herbarium that houses around 24,000 records, mainly of the flora of the state of Puebla and constitutes the largest collection of plants in the state.
