The Church of Santo Domingo in Chiapa de Corzo is located on the right bank of the Grijalva River, which here is called the Río Grande de Chiapa, on flat land the land on which it sits is between the river bank and the main square of the town, the temple of Santo Domingo is the best preserved of the religious architecture of Chiapas from the 16th century, its three-nave floor plan, coffered ceiling, ribbed domes over the transept and the presbytery, is related to the model of the Mudejar churches of the Seville region of Spain.
